Ramadan
Ramadan is a month long Muslim festival of fasting and prayer that changes every year since the Islamic calendar is a lunar calendar. Muslims believe that Allah (God) gave the Quran (the Muslim holy book) to the prophet Muhammad in this month.
The Sawm is a fast during Ramadan and one of the Five Pillars of Islam. This makes Ramadan more than just a festival for Muslims; the Sawm is a religious obligation that all Muslims must participate in.
Muslims have to follow a strict plan of fasting and prayer to gain spiritual purification through self-denial. Every day during the month of Ramadan, Muslims must not eat or drink anything between sunrise and sunset. During those days, Muslims are required to offer five prayers to Allah at set times throughout the day.
Pray for the Muslims of South Asia during Ramadan. Pray that they would have the opportunity to hear that Jesus offers them freedom so that they can follow Him and tell others about the Savior.
